In the days of Ellen, Rosie and cable channels for the LGBT community there is an assumption that coming out is not as hard as it once was. However, I think it is important to acknowledge that coming out of the closet can still be a terrifying experience, especially if you are black and Jamaican. As we all saw with Staceyann Chin on a recent episode of Oprah, the stigma with sexuality in Jamaican culture is violent and sometimes results in rape or even death. On Saturday I interviewed Jonathan Plummer for his book Balancing Act. My hetero sidekick, Apollonia, helped out on the sidelines while Jonathan opened up about Terry's recent rants, dating, Oprah and even gave a loving shout out to Al Reynolds!
